Wisdom teeth!?

when i went to the dentist last month they said my wisdom teeth are coming in and they refered me to an oral surgeon. but the thing is that i don%26#039;t have constant pain it%26#039;ll come and go maybe once a week or even every other week. my regular dentist took x-rays but yet also refered me to this surgeon to have my teeth looked at. but both my parents think i need to go to the surgeon to have them looked at. they basically said that if they aren%26#039;t bothering you a lot then they aren%26#039;t a problem. right now they hurt pretty bad. do you think i should try to convince them to take me to this oral surgeon? i just turned 15 at the begining of this month.

Wisdom teeth!?
You need to have them extracted before they become a big problem. Most people do not have a large enough jaw to support there wisdom teeth so when they start to erupt the they will cause your other teeth to shift and move. They are also so far back that it is very hard to keep them clean so it makes it easier for them to get infected. Please go see the oral surgeon and have them taken out. Tell your parents that it is very important to have them taken out.
Reply:YES! If you let them come in they have a good chance of moving all of your teeth so that they overlap and look disgusting. I got mine taken out 2 weeks ago and there was pain but now I know that my perfect smile (I got my braces off finally in May) won%26#039;t be screwed up. I suggest you get them out.
Reply:You should do what your regular Dentist says to do. If you have to convince your parents, have them talk to your Dentist. When you get into the Wisdom teeth area, it is out of a regular dentists ability. You do need an oral surgeon to advise if and when you should get them pulled or whatever.
Reply:i got all 4 of mine removed at 15 and i think even if you have the slightest discomfort you better get rid of them now because you never know how much more pain they will bring. and by the way i even have a 2nd set growing in (i am like a shark) so be weary.
Reply:if they hurt on a regular basis every week or so chances are as they grow out the pain will get worse. removing the ones that hurt is smart. some people never have them removed and are ok. most folks need all out. also when a wisdom tooth grows out it puts pressure on your other teeth causing problems and crooked teeth.

ora gel will help also take 2 or 3 aleves this will help. with the pain

good luck!
Reply:I%26#039;m sort of having the same problem %26amp; I%26#039;m 21! I%26#039;ve had braces but got them off when I was about 17, before getting them my dentist told me I should have my wisdom teeth removed but because of the expense I put it off. I mean they never bothered me before but now every few weeks they%26#039;ll start to really hurt %26amp; they are coming in on their sides. I love my straight teeth but really cant afford it now either-I dont even have insurance so I wish I had done it back when I was still under my parents insurance. My advice get it done now, dont wait til its worse %26amp; believe me it can get MUCH worse.
Reply:the younger you are the better to have out due to the tooth is not fully formed yet or rather there is no roots yet. its easier to take it out for the surgeon and its easier for you. if you wait the more the complication. your bone is still soft you will heal faster rather than when your older. we don%26#039;t need wisdom teeth its way far back meaning impossible to clean it will just cause you problem in the future that means more money and more pain.
Reply:You probably don%26#039;t need to go. My widdom teeth came in when I was 18, and the pain was miserable, but now they%26#039;re fine. it%26#039;s the same thing you went through as a baby.
Reply:When you were a baby you had to teeth, you don%26#039;t remember b/c you were too young. They probably gave you something to press your gums on. You%26#039;ve seen those things: cooling rings, etc. in the baby department or even a drug store should have them. The help the teeth break through the gum and come through. You can also use teething gel to take the pain away. Just think of yourself as a baby cutting teeth and then you will know why some babies feel cranky. Not all people need to have their wisdom teeth extracted and you are very young for it. My advice is to try what I mentioned above and maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who will be able to keep their wisdom teeth. Maybe you just got wise before your time. (smile) Good luck. p.s. I had my wisdom teeth removed when I was about 29 yrs old and believe me it was no picnic so don%26#039;t be in such a hurry to get them removed.
Reply:I%26#039;d say it%26#039;d be best to have them removed.

the recovery is not a bad time - you get well looked after by loved ones, eat all the ice-cream and cold treats you like and a handful of days off school - in my case it was work.

I had them coming through when i was about 26, i finally worked up the courage to get them removed at 28. Now i%26#039;m 30 and i%26#039;m wearing braces, the delay in waiting caused my teeth to become crowded and impacted.

So if anything - i can recommend you do have them out sooner rather than later. It%26#039;s a bit of discomfort for a week, but you%26#039;ll forget about that in no time.
Reply:well I%26#039;m not a dentist but i am in dental school.....well your wisdom teeth are commin in pretty early.....but yeah its normal for them to hurt but most people need to get them removed cause they will shift the rest of your teeth....then you might need braces...and its cheaper to get them removed then braces...
Reply:They say the sooner the better while the teeth aren%26#039;t fully grown in. I would have them checked on just in case. It%26#039;s not so bad, I just got mine removed on Monday. :)
Reply:Your questions are (if you can allow me to summarise)

1. What ar the risks of leaving my wisdom teeth alone

2. what are the the chances that these risks will arise in me if I levae my wisdom teeth alone

3. Are these risks serious?

4. Will removal of my wisdom teeth remove these risks?

5. Will have have other problems if I have my wisdom teeth removed (i.e. what are the risks of having my wisdom teeth removed?)

Sounds quite an onerous philosophical range of questions you are asking.

The best answer is YES, you need to haveyour wisdom teeth looked at by an oral %26amp; maxillofacial surgeon BEFORE you get problems, and have them removed in a way that prevent PROBLEMS from arising.

The best site I know of that can explain it all to you is... http://www.oceansurgical.com.au/wisdom.h...

Good luck, and remember, always have your wisdom teeth removed by an oral %26amp; maxillofacial surgeon
