For those who have seen two other questions similar to this I know, for my computer messed up and had sent my question off before I was even done.To make a long story short, I had 4 wisdom teeth removed plus some gum tissue as well. The day after I had the surgery done, I was rushed to the hospital because I had severe pain that was a 10, plus my face had swollen up enormously, which was alot more than the so-called chipmunk cheeks I was to have.To get the important details in,[by the way it%26#039;s a little over a week later since my surgery]I have been having 100.8-102.3 fevers all day and night, plus I still have pain, and I keep getting this nasty taste and odor in my mouth no matter how hard I try to brush my tongue, and looks like my gum can peel back when touched as if it%26#039;s open[quite hard to explain],and my mom said it look%26#039;s like something is either growing[in area where tooth was pulled]or some weird deformity is arrising. There%26#039;s alot more detail to this story so I%26#039;ll have to continu
Wisdom teeth!?
sue the dentist lol
Reply:Infection maybe.
Your not on antibiotics? You probably should be.
Reply:My mother had that bigger than chipmunk reaction, and fainted outside the dentist office and was taken in an ambulance to the hospital.
Apparently, the dentist had injected way too much of a particular something, into her gums.
Surprise, surprise!! My mother was allergic to that kind of antibiotic/painkiller or whatever it was. Her face was swollen for a month.
She tried to sue the dentist, but her ex accidentally destroyed the photos.
Go to the doctor and find out what happened.
p.s.
My sister loves her wisdom teeth. At first they came in crooked, but she chewed a lot of carrots and coconut back there and now she has beautiful jaws and powerful teeth..
Reply:Go back to your dentist! It sounds like a tiny bit of food has become trapped in the holes where your wisdom teeth used to be. The infection is probably what caused the fever. It happened to me, I thought I was being extra careful, but it turned out that all sorts of little bits of things were stuck in there! To help with the pain, the dentist will pack a disinfectant into the holes in your gums (your mouth will taste of ginger for a few weeks!) and give you a small plastic syringe and show you how to clean your gums out yourself by flushing them with water. This needs to be done every day, no matter how gross it may be, in order to ensure that you do not get another infection.
Also, the gums peeling back bit will eventually go away...it took me weeks to get used to it! But now my gums have healed nicely. Just remember to be patient, some people recover much more slowly than others from this sort of surgery.
Reply:You can use RED CROSS FIRST AID liquid on a cottonball and put it in the craters. I had dry socket from their removal and the pain was nasty. This first aid med has cloves in it and really helps. Okay it with the Doctor of course.
