I had all four wisdom teeth extracted on Monday. The swelling has gone down considerably and there%26#039;s no pain, but I noticed my jaw will not open very wide. It feels like it literally can%26#039;t open past a certain point (I can just barely fit a toothbrush between my teeth). I%26#039;m wondering if this is normal, and if so, how long should my jaw be restricted?
Wisdom teeth?
I believe that it%26#039;s normal, although you%26#039;ll obviously want to make a phone call to your doctor to double check about your specific situation. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, my jaw actually made a clicking sound for a month! They have to open your mouth very wide for a long period of time for the surgery, so it%26#039;s not abnormal to have side effects from it. The good news is that my jaw went back to normal, and so should yours.
Reply:my mom works for a dentist and I have had the same operation about 2 years ago, and you need to consult your dentist soon!
Your jaw should not be constricted like that... you prolly need some x-rays to truly find out since you can%26#039;t open.
Reply:you should talk to your dentist. maybe your face is swollen. try applying heat. when I had mine out, I developed a dry socket and had to go back to the dentist . It was quite painful.
Reply:It sure seems normal to me.
Give it time.
