Wisdom teeth?

im getting my wisdom teeth taken out including four other teeth and im terrified. i hate needles, the sight of blood, everything. im going to having %26#039;laughing gas%26#039;. does that really help you relax or feel better?

Wisdom teeth?
I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed this morning. The laughing gas helps! I closed my eyes when they gave it to me and I remember feeling so relaxed and ready to sleep. They put me to sleep with another anesthetic after that and the procedure was completely painless and nowhere near uncomfortable. I hate needles and get pretty nervous about things like this too but I dont even remember them putting in the IV after the laughing gas. I did not get giddy or goofy feeling, I just felt completeycomfortable, calm and completely relaxed.

Prepare for some discomfort afterwards, so far for me it is not too bad, I am staying on toip of the pain with the meds they prescribed and using ice almost constantly- Ice is essential!! Get about four of those flexible hot/ cold ice packs so you have enough to rotate and have one constantly cold and ready for use.

From what I hear from others who have had the procedure and from the doctor- oyu might have a few days, a week at the most of discomfort after the procedure but you should be fine- as far as the procedure itself goes, dont sweat it, once you get the gas- you wont care about much else after that

Hope it all goes well for you! I am sure you will be fine!
Reply:yes the laughing gas will make help you greatly. you will be so numb from the anesthetic that you wont feel anything. i just had mine out a couple months ago.

the pain actually comes after its all done, and hour or 2 later. stay ahead of the pain and TAKE the pain releivers they prescribe! dont wait for the pain to come on full force. the first day will be the worst..then it will get better and better. you will be fine! hang in there!
Reply:I have had eight teeth taken out (four of which were impacted wisdom teeth) %26amp; it doesn%26#039;t hurt, but it bleeds a lot. Ask them if they can put you to sleep when they do it. Laughing gas does help-it makes you feel all tingly, like you%26#039;re high or something-it definitely helped me a lot. Good luck.
Reply:Nitrous Oxide, laughing gas does work, and it does relax you. When I had my wisdom teeth taken out because they were impacted, I went to an oral surgen, who put me in a dental hospital overnight,as all together I had 5 teeth extracted, and they knocked me out , so I did not feel a thing, but was pretty sore for about a week. The main thing to be careful about with this gas is not getting to much as it can harm you, but usually there are two people present, and one person keeps an eye on the oxygen, and nitrous mix. With the gas you should not have a problem, and you will not see blood or needles, as long as the dentist is a good one with a good assistant. Good Luck.............
Reply:I feel your pain... I just got back from the %26quot;Oral Surgeon%26quot; and I have to get all four of my wisdom teeth out over the summer. He said I%26#039;ll be knocked out, don%26#039;t know if that%26#039;s the same thing but he said I won%26#039;t feel anything.
Reply:See a dentist!
